For the last three years I have tried to find the purrfect carrier for our two feline stowaways. One is a great traveler, his brother, not so much. The first year my husband threatened to jump ship because of his relentless screaming. Not meowing, screaming!

This is not a post about the pros or cons of vaccinations. What I’m sharing is a story of one cat to reveal a side effect or reaction to vaccines that is too often overlooked, discounted or dismissed.
Customer: “I was in several weeks ago for my cat who had crystals. I started him on the Chinese herbal and changed him to wet food. Now he’s peeing outside the litter box.”

As a homo-sapien, with a sizeable brain, we can choose to imbibe in one of these latest super nutrients, supplements or therapies. However, as our wards, our pets depend upon us to use that sizeable brain and to identify and qualify a newly proposed health miracle for its appropriateness and application.
Playtime releases stress, offers exercise--yes your cats need exercise, and engenders mental health. Toys can be simple such as ponytail elastics to automated wand toys, from catnip filled to interactive. Encourage your domestic hunter to mimic his predator instincts: stalking, pouncing, chasing and capturing, even if it is pseudo fabric prey--as demonstrated by Sidney-Beans.
As Dempsey, our polydactal, “clicked” across the store counter, I groaned knowing he needed a pedicure. Dempsey’s eight additional nails—a few which are challenging with the extra toes, makes nail trimmings a bit more unpleasant. The client at the register chimed in with her own difficulties of clipping her cat’s nails—she’d even tried approaching hers while he was sound asleep.
